My face has never been so wet

Last night I had the mother of all crying fits. I was trying to get to sleep around 3am and I'd stuck my headphones on because I just wasn't drifting off.

Then all of a sudden, I decided that I didn't want to be a teacher anymore. I sat up, I took a deep breath and then FUCK! I started crying, and crying, and then a little more. Til I could barely breath.

I jumped onto my laptop and spoke to my brother, all the while I was reenacting the scene from Alice in Wonderland where she floods the place with tears. I admitted to my brother and myself that I wasn't sure if I was going to be a good teacher, and better yet, I didn't know if I was able to finish my final year.

CRY CRY CRY CRY CRY CRY - for a good bloody hour too.
And I couldn't stop at all. My brother talked me to a little bit, convinced me not to make any decisions that I'd regret in the morning and to try and get some sleep. I climbed into bed, sent an email to my lecturer telling her I need a chat and tried to sleep.

Even when lying down and trying to sleep, I still bloody cried. 6am and I finally dozed off.

Spoke to my mother today and told her what I was feeling. Realised that I might just be panicking about my final year and all the fun stuff that comes with it. Still gonna have that chat with my tutor

Crazy Kitchens

Living in halls you expect some food stealing, a little mess and maybe even a little animosity between some people. But you don't want to think about the things that I'll talk about now happening to people you live with, even worse, you don' want to think that someone you live with would do shit like this.

I have to share my kitchen with 13 other girls. That's 3 cookers and 3 freezers for 13 people, so things aren't expected to run smoothly. You should expect that there are going to be times when there isn't enough room in the freezer for your stuff and there isn't a free oven for you to make dinner so you'll just have to wait a while bitch. But I sincerely hope that no one moves into halls expecting really horrible shit to happen. Our kitchen seems to be the set for some weird ass poltergeist movie involving some female students and their food.

I'd like to take this chance to say that all of the girls who are supposed to use my kitchen are very nice, everyone has their good and their bad. But under no circumstances did I ever think any of the girls would be capable of the crazy ass shit we've had going on.

There's not much point in talking about the food stealing, except to say, 'WHY DO YOU NEED AN ENTIRE FROZEN LOAF OF BREAD AND A PACK OF RIBS?' The food stealing is expected, and until someone takes something of mine that made a big dent in my wallet, I shall remain impartial to the food thieves.

BUT, and it's a big but. Kinda like this one...

DAYUMMMM!
I do find it slightly disgusting when people's property gets taken and ruined. I'll give you a little list of some of the shit that we've had happen so far.

  1. Phone stolen, smashed to pieces and SIM card cut. Phone returned
  2. Salt poured into sugar bag.
  3. Another phone stolen - still not returned
  4. Rude messages pinned to the notice board
  5. Oven temperature turned up while cooking dinner - food ruined
BITCHES NEED TO STOP BEING BITCHES! I know there can be a little 'tit for tat' going on in halls - you use my milk I'm going to use you tea bags - but seriously? Stealing phones and ruining food on purpose? Someone needs to grow up. And fast

Bitches be crazy

The End Is Near.... Or Is It?

I dunno why I continue to write this blog. I know I haven't been very consistent in the past few months, but that comes down to the fact that I have 7 followers, most of whom probably don't even use Blogger anymore. Which brings me back to my original point. Why should I keep writing if no one is going to read it?

I don't really have any direction when I write my blogs, it's just a way for me to get all the little squiggly thoughts out of my head whenever they seem to have gotten too big. Everyone needs someone/somewhere to rant, and since no one really appreciates my rants, I guess the internet will have to deal with them.

I been in uni for a month now and it is THE biggest waste of time I've ever had the misfortune to endure. How in hell is 12 hours a week sufficient for a 2nd year teaching student? I know people on beauty courses who spend more time in class than I do. The only positive thing about spending so little time in class is the fact that it means I have to spend less time with the idiots who call themselves my classmates. I am a seriously mystified by some of them. I often wonder how they've managed to get up, get dressed and get into uni without being kidnapped or falling down a hole. I have grown women in my class who ask the same question repeatedly and constantly seek reassurance from our tutors about their parenting skills. Just because their qualified to teach, doesn't mean they are the font of all knowledge in regards to children.

The students might be thick, but it's nothing compared to the way that we get taught. You would expect tutors who've had experience in teaching children from the ages of 3+ would be able to deal with some 19/20 year olds using their phones in class. But no, they can't. They just mention that it's rude and let them get on with it. Also, sticking a powerpoint on screen and simply reading it word for word does not constitute a lecture. It's boring, and teaches us nothing at all. Stop wasting my time and give me something to do!

If none of you see of hear from me for a while, it's because I've built a fort and retreated into it with a book, some tea and possibly vodka.

Halls Take 2

2nd year of uni is a go! So that means that 2nd year of halls is a go.

You'd think that since this is my 2nd year in halls I'd be used to all the crap that goes on and all the different people coming and going. But I'm not, I'm still as awkward and odd as I was last year.

As with everything, these halls have good and bad points.

The Good

  1. A huge common room with a TV, pool table and ping pong table.
  2. My room is at the end of the corridor where no one can bother me :)
  3. It's far closer to Uni than Robbins was
The Bad
  1. Everyone, and I mean everyone is terribly naive.
  2. We're still in the stage where everyone's being nice to everyone else
  3. The rent is aspensive!!
  4. I'm on a floor filled with girls :(
  5. There are already 2 separate groups forming and I am a part of neither!
  6. Ajm isn't here with me :(
Gotta take the good with the bad I guess.

Ruh Roh :(

Sincere apologies to all of my avid followers (read no one). It's been just over a month since I've posted anything on here. I guess it's the one area that's been neglected while I'm at uni.

Just on the off chance that any of you are interested in what's been happening in the past month, I'll give you a real quick run down.

  1. Finished and passed placement at uni. This means I pretty much passed first year.
  2. Wrote and handed in all my essays and got my results back. Have a couple of resits to do.
  3. Officially moved out of my halls and into Alex's
  4. Moved out of Alex's halls and into his aunt and uncle's house.
  5. Went on a seriously irritating job hunt.
  6. Got treated to a VIP day at Waddington Air Show.
  7. Continued job hunt.
  8. Found no job.
So, there you have it. Nothing worth going into detail about. The one thing I will like to talk about is the Great Postcard Campaign! It's finally my turn to send out postcards to everyone. J.Day over at The Ramblings of Charlie Brown sent me the list out and I have around 13 postcards to find and send out. If anyone on the postcard list is a follower of my blog, I'll let you know now, I'm trying to find the perfect postcards for everyone. If this takes me a little while longer than I hoped, I am sorry. I will hopefully have them all sent to you so they get delivered before the end of the month. :) I'm super excited about it and I hope you like your cards!

Fancy schmancy

Just found a blogger app for my phone and this is the first post... I'm sure the posts that come from my phone will be no where near as 'fancy' as they are when I do them on my laptop.

I would say in excited about this new way of posting blogs but it'll probably turn into something that I'll delete in a few weeks because I don't use it at all. Doesn't mean I will stop blogging, I'll just not use my phone for it.

Still getting used to the idea of having two completely different blogs. This one is my personal blog where anything and everything usually goes, but my second, most recently created blog is supposed to be my professional blog that deals with my training to become a teacher. It's weird having to stop myself writing that blog the same way I have to write this one.... Expect I'll get used to it eventually.

So, no real point to this other than to try out the app. Bye!!!

Whoopey!!

It is officially 2012 and for some reason I am supposed to take this opportunity to make daft promises to myself which will make me a better person! Whoever said 'new year, new you' is a dickhead. I'd say that if you are that intent on changing something about yourself, you'll do it as soon as the idea comes to you..

If you suddenly decide in the middle of September that you are gonna lose some weight and lead a healthier lifestyle and are truly serious about it, then you'll start right there in September. You won't put it off until January 1st because it says somewhere that the next year in your life should be different. I don't know what magic is supposed to be behind January 1st, but I'll let you know now that there isn't any. Some advertising student made it up so that the sales of exercise videos and equipment, as well as gym membership would sky rocket.  In fact, it's been shown that most people break their NY resolution within 10 days of the new year.

So, besides that little rant, I wanted to make this post about Christmas. It came and went without and major issues and even the minor ones were incredibly minor. I think because this was my first time being away from home for so long, coming home for Christmas seemed like a present in itself (that's quite deeep) ((so deep infact, that it has three e's)). I was so happy to be home, as any of you who had read my last 8(?) posts would know that I was more than happy to do anything and everything that was asked of me. This coupled with the fact that my mum had just had some awesomely robotic surgery made me a daughter from heaven :)
Christmas morning dawned and the mature adult in me woke up at a reasonable time - 8:45 and instead of opening all my presents, I sat in an armchair and read a book until everyone else woke up. I thought that since I hadn't asked for any present and therefore everything that was below the tree was a surprise, I would wait until the lady who bought them awoke so she could experience the sheer joy of watching me opening them.

When mum finally feel out of bed and came to open presents the fun began. I honestly love watching people opening their gifts rather than getting my own as I like to know that what the were given is something that they really like. You CAN tell whether or not someone is faking a look of happiness and when they do I try to be discreet and not mention it. Considering that I'm on a student budget I think I did well with my Christmas shopping for the family this year. Or as we say in Enfield - the fam. Brother's 1 & 2 received - zilch, but they will get something nice for their birthdays. Sister got a Westlife calender and a DVD of some sad old movie about a doggie. Mother got tickets to see one of her favourite comedians, an apron with Wonder Woman on it and the obligatory set of books. Father got desperately needed clothes and some books. I did not, however, do so well on the boyfriend front. One angry birds t shirt which included little thought and a Lion King DVD which he already knew about. He will however also be getting something awesomer for his birthday than the drivel which girlfriend gave him for our 2nd Christmas together.

So, here is Christmas -

Ruh Roh

For the past week I've noticed a dramatic change in my life. I've become nocturnal, which is really not good when you have uni classes during the day, It also has a horrible affect on your social life. Since I only see the person that I've become nocturnal with i.e. Alex, I've pretty much lost all connections with any living person that I knew before becoming a night creature. For those people that I've left behind I apologise.

My day (read night) goes like this.

  •  Go to bed around 5 or 6 in the morning.
  •  Hear my alarm go off at 7:30 to tell me to get my ass to uni.
  •  Say '5 more minutes ma' and roll over and go to sleep.
  •  Wake up at 3 and panic because I've missed a class
  •  Realise that at this point there is nothing I can do 'cos all my classes finish at 12:30
  •  Do some work that probably wouldn't get done otherwise
  •  Tidy the pigsty and other independent type things.
  •  Arse around on the laptop for ages until I feel sleepy and make myself a promise that I'll go in tomorrow.
Unless I get out of this habit soon I'm buggered. I think I need my mummy here to help me out of bed in the morning.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In a completely unrelated post, I just googled tickets for The Lion King in theatres and nearly fell off of the bed in shock. £97:50 to go see the bloody play! That's my xmas gift idea out the window.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In another unrelated little bit. I went to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland tonight. I was supposed to be going ice skating, and I have no idea why, but the idea of it terrified me so much that I couldn't even put my feet on the rink. It was just too damn scary. I do feel terrible though, not cos I looked like an arsehole, watching all the little kiddies skating, but because Alex paid for it and I wasted his money :(
